The Disadvantages of Writing Research Papers at Night

Many students believe that they can work on their research papers efficiently by working at night. Although many students are already used to studying at night in preparation for exams, writing a research paper is a totally different scenario.

Most studies look at a student’s progress (or regress) when it comes to studying up until the wee hours in the morning. On the other hand, there are a few studies that focus on the student’s improvement when it comes to writing research papers.

Whether the student’s concern is about studying or writing, it is still apparent that each individual works more efficiently during the day. To support this claim, below are detailed explanations why it is not recommended to write at night:

1. Availability of Resources

Although students can find resources over the internet, school libraries offer significant and more reliable references.

2. Distractions at Home

Many students prefer to work on their research papers at home because they can concentrate on their work with a quieter surrounding. However, one cannot avoid bonding moments with the family. These include watching movies together or chatting with family members over dinner.

3. Sleep Deprivation

Everyone is aware that sleep deprivation causes one’s work to slowdown. Most students have a regular morning schedule so they need to wake up early the following day.

4. Leisure Time

After a tiring day at school, every student is entitled to a break. One cannot sacrifice his or her social activities for a school requirement he or she can do in the afternoon.

5. Ability to Think and Write

Just like any individual, students also reach their limit for the day. They will not be able to think or write statements for research papers when they come home from school feeling exhausted.

In the end, students must consider working on their research paper during the day so they can write effectively.
