25/03: Teams race for Perrier-Gachet (FR)

3rd ascent (Bon Mardion-Pellicier)France has imposed again his superiority on the today’s team race of the European Championships in Morzine. On a very beautiful itinerary of around 1900m, perfectly trailed (congratulations to the organizers!), and under an impressive blue sky, the race was hold as planed, with start at 8am.
After the first ascent, on the head of the race the teams were quite closed to each other, but o the second ascent, the French team Perrier-Gachet and the Italian team Brund-Reichegger took some advantage (around 30 sec) to Giacomelli-Pellisier and Bon Mardion-Pellicier.
Finally on the 3rd descent Perrier-Gachet managed to take some advantage to the Italians, and maintain it easily until the finish line.
The spectacle and emotion was on the other teams on the last ascent. Brunod had some problems and lost time, which Giacomelli-Pellisier profit to take them the second place, but just on the summit, the surprise was that Pellicier-Bon Mardion got to catch them as well, and overtook Giacomelli-Pellisier on the last descent. The problems on the back of Giacomelli and the impressive descent performances of the French team left no doubt about the second and unexpected place for this young team.

It’s worth to mention the good results of the Norwegian team, taking the 15th place male.

On the female race there were no surprises. Pedranzini-Martinelli (IT) won once again, followed by Favre-Lathuraz (FR) and Mabillard-Etzensperger (CH).

Racers, official and public enjoyed a great day of ski mountaineering, with a wonderful itinerary, warm sunny weather and a lot of emotion.

La France a encore su imposé sa supériorité dans la course par équipe d’aujourd’hui aux Championnats d’Europe à Morzine. Avec un très bel itinéraire de 1900 m de dénivelé avec une trace parfaite (félicitations aux organisateurs !), sous un ciel d’un bleu impressionnant, la course a eu lieu comme prévu avec un départ à 8h.
Après la première montée les équipes en tête étaient très proches, mais dans la deuxième montée, l’équipe française Perrier- Gachet et les italiens Brunod-Reichegger ont pris un petit avantage (de 30 secondes environ) devant Giacomelli-Pellisier et Bon MArdion-Pellicier.
Finalement dans la 3ème descente Perrier-Gachet ont réussi d’échapper un peu aux Italiens, et ils ont su maintenir cet écart jusqu’à l’arrivée.
Le spectacle et l’émotion reposait sur les équipes suivantes dans la dernière montée. Brunod avait quelques problèmes et a perdu du temps. Giacomelli-Pellissier en ont profité pour passer à la deuxième place. Mais au sommet, la surprise. Pellicier-Bon Mardion ont rattrapé les Italiens et on doublé Giacomelli-Pellissier dans la descente. Les problèmes du dos de Giacomelli et les performances impressionnantes des Français ont enlevé toute doute sur cette seconde place inattendu pour cette jeune équipe.
A noter les bons résultats de l’équipe norvégienne à 15ème place.
Dans la catégories des dames, pas de surprise. Pedranzini-Martinelli (IT) ont gagné une fois de plus, suivies par Favre-Lathuraz (FR) et Mabillard-Etzensperger (CH).
Les coureurs, officiels et le public profitaient de ce grand jour pour le skialpinisme avec un très beau parcours sous un soleil écrasant et des émotions.
