28/03: La France clôt la 7ème édition des Championnats d’Europe de ski de montagne en s’offrant 5 nouvelles médailles d’or (FRA)

Laetitia Roux (FRA) et Florent Perrier (FRA), sacrés Champion d’Europe de montée sèche samedi matin, réitèrent leur exploit lors de la course individuelle, dernière épreuve des Championnats d’Europe. Ils offrent à la France deux nouvelles médailles d’or ! Chez les hommes, l’Italien Dennis Brunod se couvre d’argent et le jeune William Bon Mardion (FRA) de bronze. Chez les femmes, les redoutables Italiennes Roberta Pedranzini, Gloriana Pellissier et Francesca Martinelli prennent respectivement la 2e, 3e et 4e place.

Lors de cette dernière épreuve, les athlètes Elites Hommes et Femmes, regroupant les catégories Seniors et Espoirs) ont dû affronter plus de 1600 m de dénivelé positif et 1500 m négatif. La deuxième ascension de la course (plus de 760 m de dénivelé positif), a conduit les skieurs jusqu’aux Hauts Forts, point culminant du domaine des Portes du Soleil (2466m). Un portage spectaculaire, suivi d’un cheminement sur une arête a été nécessaire pour atteindre ce sommet. Seuls face à eux-mêmes, les coureurs ont dû maîtriser leur physique et leur mental pour réussir cette épreuve d’endurance et de technique.

Course Hommes : Florent Troillet (SUI) prend la tête de la course dès les premiers mètres, suivi de Florent Perrier (FRA), William Bon Mardion (FRA) et Dennis Brunod (ITA). Le peloton de tête est formé. Les Français, performants en descente, devancent rapidement le Suisse. Florent Perrier, l’homme fort de ses Championnats d’Europe, passe en tête dès la première descente. Il ne quittera plus cette place jusqu’à l’arrivée. Il remporte ainsi sa troisième médaille d’or, après celles obtenues en montée sèche et par équipe. Dennis Brunod enlève la médaille d’argent en dépassant William Bon Mardion (FRA) quelques centaines de mètres avant l’arrivée.

Course Femmes : Dynamique en montée et technique en descente, l’inépuisable Laëtitia Roux signe une course éblouissante. Dès le départ, la Championne d’Europe de montée sèche 2007, véritable révélation de ses Championnats, creuse l’écart avec ses adversaires. Lorsqu’elle atteint le point culminant du parcours, elle a déjà plus de 3’50’’ d’avance. Elle franchira la ligne d’arrivée seule à 6’40’’ des Italiennes.

La course individuelle Jeunes, regroupant les catégories Junior et Cadet, cumulait plus de 1330 m de dénivelé positif et 1200 m de dénivelé négatif. Chez les Juniors Hommes, c’est encore Kilian Jornet (ESP) qui s’impose, suivi une nouvelle fois de près par Sébastien Perrier (FRA). Le jeune français Valentin Favre complète le podium. Chez les femmes, l’Espagnole Mireia Miró Valera prend la 1re place, les Françaises, Lydia Bouillot et Claire Batailles, sont 2e et 3e. Chez les cadets, Léonie Ferran et Xavier Gachet offrent deux nouvelles médailles d’or à la France

C’est encore une belle moisson de médailles pour la France, qui clôture ces Championnats d’Europe de ski de montagne avec autant de panache qu’à l’ouverture et qui s’octroie en toute logique la 1ère place du classement par nation.

A golden end to the 7th edition of the European Ski Mountaineering Championships for France, who wins another 2 gold medals.

Laëtitia Roux (FRA) and Florent Perrier (FRA), already European Champions in the vertival climb discipline which took place last Saturday, gave another flawless performance in the individual race, the last competition of the European Championships. They are each taking home another gold medal! Among the men, Dennis Brunod (ITA) won silver and William Bon Mardion (FRA) bronze. Among the women, the Italian athletes Roberta Pedranzini, Gloriana Pellissier and Francesca Martinelli came in 2nd, 3rd and 4th respectively.

During this last race, the athletes grouped into Elite Men and Women (the categories Senior and Espoir were put together) had to confront 1600m vertical climb and 1500m descent. The second climb of the race (more than 760m vertical climb) took the athletes right up to the Hauts-Forts (2466m), the summit of the Portes du Soleil ski area. A tough climb followed by a passage on the ridge were necessary to reach the summit. The athletes had to manage the physical as well as mental challenge to master this tough and very technical race.

The men's race: Florent Troillet (SUI) led the race from the beginning, followed closely by Florent Perrier (FRA), William Bon Mardion (FRA) and Dennis Brunod (ITA); toghether they formed the head peloton. The French athletes, strong on the downhill parts of the race, quickly caught up with Florent Troillet (SUI). Florent Perrier, who already gave a strong performance in the previous competitions of these Championships, took the lead of the peloton as of the first downhill part. He managed to hold this position all the way to the finish line, thus winning his third gold medal (he won his other two medals in the vertical as well as in the team race). Dennis Brunod managed to win the silver medal by overtaking William Bon Mardion (FRA) a couple of hundred metres before the finish line.

The women's race: Strong on the vertical climbs and technical on the downhill parts the inexhaustible Laëtitia Roux gave an impressive performance. Right from the start the 2007 European Champion in the vertical climb discipline, built a gap between herself and her rivals. When she reached the summit of the Hauts-Forts she was already 3'50'' ahead of the rest of the group. She then managed to nearly double the gap and came in 6'40'' before the Italians.

The race of the young athletes (categories Junior and Cadet were put together) consisted of 1330m vertical climb and 1200m of downhill. Among the Junior Men, it was Kilian Jornet (ESP) again who won the race, followed for the second time by Sébastien Perrier (FRA). The young French athlete Valentin Favre finished third. Among the women, Mireia Miro Valera (ESP) came first, followed by Lydia Bouillot and Claire Batailles from France in second and third place respectively. Among the Cadet, Léonie Ferran and Xavier Gachet won another two gold medals for France.

Another great result for France who opened and finished the European Ski Mountaineering Championships with style.

Un oro finale per la settima edizione degli europei di scialpinismo alla Francia che ha vinto altre due medaglie d'oro: Laetitia Roux e Florent Perrier, gia camioni continetali di Vertical, hanno sciorinato un'altra esplosiva performance nella prova individuale, alla'ultima gara degli europei. Sono quindi tornti a casa con l'ennesima medaglia. Posto d'onore tra gli uomini per Dennis Brunod (ITA) che si è piazzato davanti al William Bon Mardion (FRA). Tra le donne seconda e terza sono giunte le italiane Roberta Pedranzini e Gloriana Pellissier. Nell'ultima gara hanno gareggiato finaco a fianco gli elite maschili e Femminili (senior ed espoir erano assieme) su un tracciato di 1600m di salita e 1500 di discesa. La seconda ascesa (+ di 760 m di dislivello positivo) ha portato gli atleti sullHauts-Forts (2466m), la cima della ski areaPortes du Soleil. Al maschile Troillet ha subito dettato i tempi seguito da Perrier, Bon Mardione e Brunod. I francesi nella parte più dura della salita, hannopreso Troillet. Perrier, che già nella prima prova ha dimsotrato una condizione atletica invidialbile, ha preso la testa della corsa. Ha tenuto sino al traguardo guadagnandosi l'ennimo oro. Alle sue saplle Brunod e Bon Mardion si sono aggiudicati le rimanenti medaglie. Al femminile una gara dura e tecnica non ha certo sapevantato laetitia Roux, subito apparsa in grande spolvero.Già nella prima ascesa la francese ha chiuso i conti con le dirette avversarie. Nella prova giovanile (categorie junior e cadettie rano assieme) il tracciato prevedeva 1300m di ascesa e 1200 di successiva discesa. Primo degli junior si è piazzatp Kilian Jornet(ESP), secondo tempo per il francese Sébastien Perrier. Nella gara in rosa la francesina Valentine Favre è giunta terza nella gara vinta dalla spagnola Mireia Miro Valera. Tra i cadetti LèonieFerran e Xavier Gachet hanno vinto altre due medaglie d'oro per l'équipe francese. Un altro grande risultato quindi per la Francia che ha aperto e chiuso con classe questi europei.
